Week 2: Periods, Cleavers and Alternative HRT

Have you ever heard of Cleavers? Neither had I until recently when I was looking for something to stop me feeling so sluggish and to give me more energy.

I came across this amazing little plant also known as STICKY WEED.  After further research I ordered it in tablet form (see photo above) and after a week,I do feel much more awake and ready for the day.


Cleavers is a medicinal wild herb that grows throughout the United States, Britain, Europe, Siberia, and the Himalayas. It is one of the most effective herbs for cleansing the lymphatic system.The lymphatic system is a network of tissues and organs that help rid the body of toxins, waste and other unwanted materials. Its primary function is to transport lymph, a fluid containing infection-fighting white blood cells, throughout the body. It is known to help move and dissolve lymphatic congestion, reduce swollen glands, ease upper respiratory congestion, and eliminate mucous from the body. 

Cleavers is also highly beneficial for removing toxic debris out of the blood and can help to tone and strengthen the entire circulatory system. It is also good for alleviating edema, bloating, and water retention.

Buy them at any good health store.

You can also buy it dried and make tea from it!


Tea - Use 2 tsp of dried herb to 1 cup of boiling water and let steep for at least 10 minutes, sweeten with raw honey if desired. 


Cleavers can also be found in tincture, extract, capsule, and cream form online or at your local health food store. It is most effective when used for only 1-2 week increments at a time.

  • 20g cashews (soak for at least 2 hours, but best soaked overnight)

  • 1 banana
  • 30g rolled oats
  • 1 teaspoon flaxseed
  • 100ml oat milk (or whatever you prefer)

Prep:

  • Mash soaked cashews, chopped dates, flax seeds, banana, cocoa powder and 2/3 of oatmeal together with the milk in a strong blender to a creamy smoothie.
  • Pour into a large glass.
  • Roast the remaining oatmeal in a small pan and sprinkle for garnish.
  • Enjoy !


ALTERNATIVE HRT
